Thank you!

I often have a hard time writing blog posts.  Finding the right words has always been a struggle for me, as each client is so different and brings out different emotions.  Writing has always been something that has been an interest, but something I have never been good at.  I have to admit, I'm super envious of great writers.  For me, translating my thoughts into words is tricky.  Not to mention proper grammar, where to put the comma or starting a new sentence.  Yup, the struggle is real.  Translating into pictures is so much easier.

I have always been an artistic person.  Seeing moments happen and capturing the emotions is what I love.  Being a wedding photographer in this beautiful city of Saskatoon is something I don't take lightly.  Capturing the love between couples and all of the emotions of a wedding day is something that I thrive on.  At times I run into different vendors on a wedding day and wonder why the heck they are still in the wedding business.  They are bitter, cranky and complaining the whole day.  Weddings bring out just the opposite in me.  After each year, wedding season becomes more exciting. The night before a wedding I get giddy and excited for the Saturday to come!  I think I can truly say, that after 8 years of shooting weddings I fall more and more in love with them each and every year.  I really feel so fortunate that I am able to share in the love between two people who trust me to capture the memory of their big day, and preserve that memory long after the wedding day.  So many weddings I've shot recently include photos of their own parents and even grandparents on their wedding day, Either at the guest sign in book or on the cake table.  To think that a wedding I have captured could be displayed long after my time here on earth is unfathomable, yet a reality of so many of our clients.  To say it's an honor to capture someones wedding day is truly an understatement.

To all of my clients who have trusted me to photograph the happiest day of your lives, thank you!  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!  Cheers to the last 8 years, and to the next 8 years (+).  I can't wait!

A backyard wedding - Saskatoon Photographers

This gorgeous bride is a family friend to my husbands family.  She grew up right across the alley from them and I have seen countless home videos of her as a child.  I was so excited when she called me to capture her intimate backyard wedding.  Of course, I said yes!!!  My day started at the hotel where I captured the ladies getting ready for the big day.  We headed over to the grooms sisters back yard where they said their vows, then did a quick session with them before we ended up at O'Sheas for a drinks and appys.  (Where the couple met!).  Then only a couple of hours later, they hopped on a plane and headed to Vegas for a night of celebration with around 50 of their closest family and friends.  While I was a little bummed we didn't get on that plane, I was fortunate enough to capture their memories of the wedding here.  Throughout the day there were a few tears and a lot of laughter.  It was one of the most beautiful days we had last October!  Here are a few images from their very special day.  Thank you for having me!

Trash the dress charity event - Saskatoon Photographers

Each and every year we have so much fun at our Trash the dress for charity event!  Last year we did it in August, and the day was a blast!  It's something I look forward to each and every year!  We raised $26, 670 for the Children's Hospital of Saskatchewan with CN Rail matching our donation, making our total raised for the event over $50, 000.  How incredible is that?!  Pretty awesome for 7 brides to take credit for:).  While our brides do all of the fundraising for the event, we have some pretty amazing local businesses that also take part!  So, in no particular order, a huge thank you to the following businesses for sponsoring the event:

Lastly, I would like to thank the 7 beautiful brides who raised every penny for this event!  Without you and your willingness to fundraise your buns off, this event would not be able to happen.  Each and every year when the total amount of money raised is announced, my jaw is on the floor and tears well up in my eyes.  To think that such a small group of people can pull of an event so huge is incredible!  So here they are.... the beautiful women who made it their priority to raise so much money for such a great cause!

Please go and check out our facebook page to follow what we are up to throughout the year.  Click HERE to see what we are doing over there:).  We are already planning and looking forward to the event this year!  Want to take part?  Let us know!

Passionate Love - Saskatoon photographers

I feel so fortunate to have met this couple.  Like 95% of all of our wedding bookings, they were a referral.  They are both so kind, and their passion they have for each other is something I love to photograph.  It always makes my job so easy when you can plainly see how in love our couples are.

They were complete naturals in front of the camera.  It was a very emotional day, the love was in the air and the connection between the bride and her father was so amazing.

Here are a few favorites from their day.  We had the pleasure of capturing the ceremony/formal portion of the day, as well as the reception.  Isn't the décor so classy?

Saskatchewan farm wedding - Saskatoon photographers

Weddings.... I truly love to photograph them.  I just got an email saying "We want to book you!" and I get sooo excited!  I love that I absolutely love my job, and get excited about something that is over a year away:).

I was so fortunate to be a part of this couples big day.  They got married on her family farm near Wynyard, and it was a gorgeous setting for their vows.  The pastor made the ceremony so personal and included a ton of different stories from all of their family and friends.  I think it was one of the best ceremonies I have ever witnessed.

The families are both farmers and both have a love for different tractor companies, so, of course, we had to do a few shots of the rivalry, lol.  It also gave us the opportunity to shoot some shots in their fields, which is something I typically avoid if the couple doesn't know someone who owns the land.  The couple was so kind.  They are the type of people who I would have over for a drink on a Friday night.  Just so awesome!

I could go on and on about them and their day, but I will let the photos speak for themselves.  Here is a taste from their big day.  Cheers!

Happy New Year!

Hi there!  Welcome to our brand spankin' new blog!  We have had the same blog since we opened up shop, almost 8 years ago.  I figured it was time for a much needed upgrade.  So here it is, our brand new blog to showcase our latest work!

While I was going through images for our new website I found some behind the scenes shots that you've probably never seen before.  So here they are, some behind the scenes shots from my second shooters from different weddings over the last few years.  While, it may not be exciting, its fun to see how I create some of the images I get, from interesting angles, to bribing kids for smiles.  Here they are folks!  Behind the scenes with Memories by Mandy Photography.
