You may recognize this family from my previous post. This gorgeous mama was one of the bridesmaids in the wedding I just posted previous to this. She called me up and asked if I was available to do their family photos last fall. I was sooo excited to capture their adorable little girl, who was the flower girl, along with her mom and dad. They are all so photogenic. I really wish fall last longer... it's so darn pretty!
Where do we even begin with this wedding?! Gosh, it was a good one! The bride was stunning, the groom/groomsmen are British (that means they are a blast, hilarious, and don't stop cracking jokes all day), the bridesmaids were sweet (a nice contrast from the guys, lol), and the flowergirl completely stole the show! At 2 years old walked down the isle by herself like it's something shes done 100 times. I have never met a more confident, smart, not to mention gorgeous little girl.
The ceremony was at Mayfair united church here in Saskatoon. Once the ceremony was finished we headed outside for a group photo. A tradition the groom organized, and I love. We went to a few different locations around town, then headed back to reception. The Glen at Crossmount is a beautiful venue for anyone wanting a unique location for your special day. The couple had it decorated beautifully, with some really amazing/personal touches. The speeches were hilarious and the first dance as husband and wife gave me goosebumps.
It really was the perfect day! Sometimes i have to pinch myself to remind myself that I'm not dreaming. This is what I get to do for a living! Here is a small sample from their special day. I CAN NOT wait for wedding season again!
Now that we have a studio, we have so many ideas we want to try out, which means we need models! We are looking for the following:
1. A trendy child (or siblings) with an afro. (Between ages 3-16)
2. A little girl with freckles. (Between ages 4-9)
3. A mom with her kids
4. A dad with his kids
5. A baby girl, who is sitting but not yet crawling.
6. A photogenic family. Minimum 4 people. (sorry, no extended families)
A few prerequisites:
-We have very specific plain clothing requirements that we will need our models to bring to their session. Most will likely have something in their current wardrobe, but may need to purchase something. Current styles are a must!
-We have a very specific look in mind. Please email us with a photo and age of your child(ren) along with which category you are submitting them in. (If you will be in the parent sessions, please include an image of yourself as well.). Bonus points if your child is wearing a trendy outfit in their submission photo. -All sessions will be done in studio free of charge.
-All models/parents MUST be willing to allow us to use their images in our portfolio, which includes all social media outlets.
-We are looking for models who are NOT camera shy.
-Only the models chosen will be contacted for their sessions. As we mentioned earlier we have a very specific look in mind for these sessions. If your child was not chosen, please keep an eye on our page for future models calls!
-Most sessions will be photographed on March 5-6.
We are moving into a studio space! After (almost) 9 years in the business, we are so excited to announce that we are moving our business out of our home and into an established (and amazingly gorgeous) studio right here in downtown Saskatoon.
Joi Photography has graciously opened her doors to us and we cannot wait to start photographing families in the space! If you haven’t heard of Joi photography, you must be living under a rock (just kidding... sort of). She is an incredible Boudoir photographer here in Saskatoon with a really amazing studio space. We haven’t offered boudoir photography in years, so we will continue to refer boudoir clients to her. (If you are ever thinking of doing a boudoir session, you must check out her website, she is the queen bee of boudoir photography here in Saskatoon!)
If you would like to get out of the cold for your family session (my specialty), and into a beautiful studio with 100 year old hard wood floors, I am your gal! We decided to make the leap to a studio because let’s face it, who wants to be outdoors in our Canadian winters? This will give us the opportunity to bring your fun family session indoors, into a beautiful space, to showcase your beautiful family. We will still be offering on location photography at no extra charge, so you will be getting the opportunity to take advantage of the best of both worlds! I am so excited for this next phase in our business and we can’t wait to share it with you! I really feel so fortunate for our families to open their doors and let me capture some of their most precious moments. This is a perfect example of how we photograph a newborn baby, specifically when there are siblings as well. We come right into your home and make the session very family orientated. We get some great shots of the family together, of the siblings together, of the siblings alone, then focus a bit more on the baby. Families are so important to capture with newborns for their first photoshoot, and I think we get that, as we have a little family of our own.
I traveled all the day to Battleford, Saskatchewan for this families newborn session. I feel so lucky to have such dedicated clients, that even when they move to a different, they still call me! I think these images really speak for themselves... so here they are. A king, a queen, a prince and the newest little princess. Seriously melt my heart...

Throwing it back to 4.5 years ago, to when my little girl was just 5 days old.Still one of my favorite shots of her. Time flies when you're having fun!
I photographed this little boys parents wedding a while back. Fast forward half a decade and I got an email saying they were expecting their first baby! Of course I was so thrilled for them!! Their little boy arrived happy and healthy weighing as much as his mom when she was born, just 5lbs 14oz. After photographing a 9lb-er just a week before I couldn't get over how tiny he was! At just 6 days new, he was awake for most of his session, but as happy as a clam, so we rolled with it. By the end of the session he fell asleep so we ended up getting some cute sleepy shots too. I loved seeing their maternity prints framed in his nursery, so of course, we had to get a couple of shots including them too. Here is the tiniest little peanut who has ever graced my camera.
Throwback Thursday to last Canada day. Please note I would never endanger mine or my clients lives. This was taken on a closed road. Pretty cool, right?
We typically don't photograph too many newborns, however this year, we had 3 past clients all expecting babies within a month of each other! Among the busy fall wedding season, I got some serious baby snuggles in. We always photograph babies in their home, without the use of props, unless an item has sentimental value to the family. This little boy was so sweet. His big sister was the same age as my daughter when my son was born. It's hard to believe I was in this mothers shoes just 2.5 years ago.
This little man was going through a growth spurt when I was there, he wanted to nurse... a lot. But once his tummy was full she was the perfect little sleepy model. His nursery made a beautiful backdrop for his first photo shoot! And his big sister has grown so much since our last session (she was 6 months old then, now she's almost 2)!
